About the role:


Software engineering is the application of engineering to the design, development, implementation, testing and maintenance of software in a systematic method. You will be working as a Full Stack Software Engineer working across the organization’s top initiatives in Virtual Care Technology.


This role is based within Optum Insight as part of Data Science Services. Optum is the technology and services division of UnitedHealth Group, the leading international health insurer. The roles of the Software Engineering team within Data Science Services include, but are not limited to analysis, design, coding, engineering, testing, debugging, standards, methods, tools analysis, documentation, research and development, maintenance, new development, operations and delivery. Our Senior Software Engineers in this function cover all primary development activity across all technology functions that ensure we deliver code with high quality for our applications, products and services and to understand customer needs and to develop product roadmaps. These roles include, but are not limited to analysis, design, coding, engineering, testing, debugging, standards, methods, tools analysis, documentation, research and development, maintenance, new development, operations and delivery.

Primary Responsibilities


  • Design, code, test, document, and maintain high-quality and scalable Big Data and Analytic solutions.

  • Collaborates and communicates with IT cross-functional teams.

  • Implement best practices and coding standards of the project.

  • Performing all phases of software engineering including requirements analysis, application design, and code development & testing.

  • Designing and implementing product features in collaboration with business and IT stakeholders.

  • Research, evaluate, and deploy new tools, frameworks and patterns to build a sustainable Analytic platform.

  • Understand new product capabilities and decompose the implementation into specific functional changes for verification.

  • Participate in Agile/Scrum methodology to deliver high-quality software releases.

  • Collaborate with the scrum team to meet project timelines.

  • Review code and provide feedback relative to best practices and improving performance.

  • Troubleshoot production support issues post-deployment and come up with solutions as required.

  • Implement Spring boot microservices which acts as a Kafka Consumer and read the data from Kafka Topics which exists on Azure Cloud.

  • Implement Spring boot microservices to interact with Snowflake DWH Schema which exists on Azure Cloud.


Required Qualifications


  • Extensive hands-on Software Development experience.

  • Development experience with Python.

  • Experience in developing applications on at least one major cloud platform (Azure preferred).


Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, NoSQL Databases and Azure Native Services.

  • Proficient with front-end languages including HTML, JavaScript, and CSS.

  • Experience of working with DevOps technologies.
